As a previous customer of Interflora I was interested to try out their new online bouquet design tool "My Interflora Creation". This new service allows customers to create their own bouquet by choosing flowers and foliage exactly to their recipients taste.
The website itself is easy to use. The user simply picks their chosen flowers and foliage from the sidebar, then drag and drop stems into the vase in the centre of the page. You can search for flowers by either colour, meaning or name which really allows you to personalise the bouquet.
There are hints and tips to help you in designing your bouquet, and if you put a stem in that you decide doesn't look right, you can click and drag it into the bin to remove that stem. There is a price tracker in the right hand corner so as you add flowers you can see how much your bouquet will cost. This is rather handy if you are sticking to a specific budget.
Once you have finished your bouquet you can choose to name it, save it, and you can share with the popular social network sites such as Twitter, Pinterest and Twitter. If you are ready to purchase you click to buy where you are then given the choice whether to collect from a specific florist, or to arrange a delivery date.
I really like the fact that you can choose the florist to collect from and I chose to collect my bouquet from my favourite local florist Jules Florist and then paid online.
The following day I received a telephone call from Jules Florist. The florist felt that although pretty, in terms of making sure the bouquet was balanced there may need to be some adjustments, for example, I hadn't really added enough foliage to my design. After a brief conversation with the florist I decided that it would be sensible to let her make any adjustments to ensure that my bouquet looked beautiful, yet remained true to my design idea.
On collection I was thrilled. The flowers were beautiful, the florist had kept exactly to my colour scheme and choice of flowers, but had added more foliage and placed the stems so that the bouquet looked perfectly balanced.
I love the concept of this new service, but considering many customers don't have the expertise of a trained florist I hope that the florists supplying bouquets give similar courtesy calls to advise customers if adjustments might be needed to improve the end creation.
To get creative go to My Interflora Creation. Have a play, share your creations with your friends and design the perfect bouquet for individual occasions.
Here's my creation, with a bit of help from the florist.
