I'm starting my second week on the Year 2013 diet and have decided to join Naked Mum with #WobblesWednesday
Other than Day 1 of diet where I found myself biting my nails for something to nibble on, I've actually managed ok and have kept within my calorie allowance without feeling hungry.
I must admit I've been keeping myself busy, not difficult with two active toddlers and housework that is never ending, but I do find evenings are my weak point when it comes to getting the munchies.
At this stage my main concern is that I am too controlled in what I eat and I'm trying not to let the diet become an obsession, but there is no point denying that every time I think about meals I'm checking the calories first. It's apparent that my relationship with food is not a good one, I'm too extreme, either comfort eating, or eating far too little. In the long run this could hamper my efforts to diet as eating too few calories apparently slows down metabolism.
That said, what I am eating is healthy. I am eating loads of vegetables and fruit and more fish than usual, although I've always been a fish lover. And, I've found that there are ways of making our "naughty" foods better, for example, last night we had curry, but instead of using meat I used prawns which are lower in calories and fat.
I've made a homemade Tzatziki dip which is low fat and with carrot sticks was a healthy alternative to our usual Saturday night nibbles. You can get the recipe here
As for exercise, we have managed to get out for a couple of walks and at the end of last week had a long walk round a local zoo to burn off a few calories, but I really need to motivate myself to find other "free" ways of exercising.
Now for the nitty gritty bit. My Wobbly Weigh-in.
I am now 12 stone 0 lbs. That's a loss of 7lbs since last week.
I realise that this is a rapid weight loss and probably just the excess flab that greeted me over Christmas rather than the baby weight that's been hanging around for nearly 2 years, but its a start none the less.
Looking forward to reading everyone elses post on Wobbles Wednesday, and hopefully picking up some diet tips along the way.
